“It is a fact universally acknowledged that a gentlemen in scarlet regimentals must be in want of a fair companion...”
As Jane Austen never quite said!
The Pemberley Detachment was formed as an addition to the 32d earlier last year, with the aim in mind that not everyone was excited by the military aspect of the period.

The Regency period has more to offer than the Peninsular campaigns, Sean Bean in a Rifleman’s uniform and muddy boots (you mean there is more to life than Sean Bean in muddy boots???) and the smell of black powder in the morning. The Pemberley Detachment aims to recreate the civilised aspects of the time – they didn’t call it the Age of Elegance for nothing – by meeting to drink tea, eat cake, and exchange idle chatter in a manner befitting ladies of our station.

Not all of us are experienced re-enactors. Some of us are; some of us are interested in the period, some of us enjoy the social side. Some of us hate the idea of camping and some of us break into a cold sweat at the possibility of being more than a hundred yards from shower facilities. What we do have in common is a desire to enjoy ourself, as authentically as possible, in comfort and civilisation.
Feel free to join us!
